3. Use this "Collagen Boosting" Ingredient
There's one ingredient that Dermatologists swear by. Can you guess what it is?
I'll give you a hint: Vitamin A.
If you haven't caught on yet, don't worry... not everyone knows about this ingredient. It's called Retinol.
Retinol is found in several different beauty creams for a reason. Retinol works at a much more deep level. It enhances collagen production, smooths skin tone, and evens helps reduce ark spots. Not bad for a single ingredient.
But it's not just magic. Dermatologists swear by retinol, counting it as a must-have for just about everyone (second only to SPF), even those with sensitive skin.
“I don’t know a single dermatologist who doesn’t use a retinol product on their skin,” says Heather Rogers, MD, a Seattle-based dermatologist and clinical assistant dermatology professor at the University of Washington.
If you've tried Retinol and it didn't work or cause irritation, you were probably using too much. Start your Retinol treatment twice per week and slowly build up to night use. Slight irritation is perfectly normal at the beginning.
4. Say NO to Fragrances!
Fragrances may be great for perfume, but they certainly should not be in your cream, serums, and face wash!
It's dangerous.
Fragrances are often used to cover up the other chemical smells. So the result is just another chemical (fragrance) on top of all the other chemicals. To make matters worse, some added fragrances use toxic chemicals that can be dangerous to the person wearing it.
If your product label says the word "Fragrance" ... say NO!
5. Go Natural!
Products with natural ingredients ultimately provide several advantages for our skin, body, well-being, and the environment.
Natural is better for the skin! The right natural ingredients can diminish wrinkles, fade sun spots, soothe irritations, and more.
Natural is better for the body! Our skin can be absorbs chemicals into our bloodstream. In fact, 60% of what’s applied to skin can be directly absorbed. Studies have found that our immune systems, moods, nervous systems and reproductive systems can be affected by commercial body care and beauty products.
Natural is better for the Environment! If the chemicals in commercial beauty products are bad for our skin and body, imagine what they’re doing to the environment every time we wash them down the drain. In addition, conventional beauty products require ingredients that require extensive mining – like petroleum, aluminum, and lead. The mining is hurting miles of land in places like the Amazon, and the ingredients – like aluminum – have even been linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
